IMPACT AWARD

The recipient of the Spring 2021 Impact award…is Safe Haven. Congratulations! The Award total is $18,100.

Members in good standing (donation paid) may nominate organizations to be considered for the Impact Award.

The 17 organizations nominated for the Spring 2021 Giving Circle were: Building Bridges of Hope, Columbus Arts Council, Inc., Columbus Lowndes Free Medical Clinic (Good Samaritan Clinic), Columbus Lowndes Habitat for Humanity, Community Benefit Committee, Dream Center of Columbus, Excel by 5 of Columbus-Lowndes, Father’s Child Ministry, Happy Christmas Fund, HEARTS After-School Tutoring Program, LTD, Life Choices Pregnancy Care Center, Lowndes Co. VFW Post 4272, Lowndes County Imagination Library, New Hope Middle School Adaptive Play Area, Safe Haven, Inc., Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Trinity Place Retirement Community Sunday Fund. The three organizations selected to be from the Golden Drum for the Spring Impact Award were Excel by 5, Father’s Child Ministry, and Safe Haven. The organizations not receiving the award in the Spring will be eligible for the Fall 2021 Impact Award.

Eligibility Criteria

Only members of 100+ Women Who Care Columbus, Mississippi, are eligible to nominate an organization for our Impact Award. Nominations must be submitted 30 days prior to a voting meeting and be approved.

Charities and organizations must:

  • Be locally based in Lowndes County.

  • Have 501(c)(3) status in Mississippi and be in good standing with the Secretary of State.

  • Use 100% of the funds awarded in Lowndes, County.

  • Agree to send a representative to the next meeting of 100+ WWC Columbus, Mississippi to present how the Impact Award will be used to further their mission.

In addition:

  • National and international charities, programs and organizations will not be considered, as the focus is on contributing to our local community. Organizations with a national association may be nominated provided the request is for a project to be delivered in Lowndes County, Mississippi. The funds must stay in our community.

  • Members of 100+ WWC Columbus, Mississippi, may only have one ( 1 ) organization nominated at a time.

  • If multiple members submit the same organization for consideration, the member submitting the organization first will present on behalf of the organization. Members submitting duplicate nominations may nominate a different organization. One ticket only for each nominated and vetted organization is placed in The Golden Drum for drawing.

Prior Impact Award Recipients

The fourth Impact Award was announced on October 27, 2020. Congratulations to the Lowndes County Humane Society. The Humane Society was selected from sixteen local organizations. A check for $14,500 will be awarded to this fine organization. Thank you for the good work you do in our community.

The third Impact Award was voted and announced on June 16. 2020. Twenty one organizations were nominated by members of !00 WWC Columbus and vetted by the KISS (Keep It Simple Sister) Committee. A check for $13,600 was presented to Loaves & Fishes Community Soup Kitchen of Columbus, Inc. Congratulations! We applaud your efforts and give you a tremendous thank you for having a big dream, caring hearts, and reaching into our community to help the lives of others.

The Forge Foundation was selected for the second Impact Award and received $17,000.

The Homeless Coalition was selected for the first Impact Award and received $16,700.
